The story of the Vabrik began in 1898, when the Baltic Cotton Mill was established, locally known as the Sitsi factory. At its peak, more than 2,000 workers were employed here, and the area developed into an important industrial centre. Its legacy can still be seen today in the architecture of the buildings and their distinctive red-brick facades.
